Celebrate Christmas in Sydney

The City sparkled in all its glory on Thursday 24 November with the Martin Place Christmas Tree Lighting & Children’s Concert and Hyde Park’s, Christmas on the Green. Thank you to everyone who took part in celebrating the launch of the festive season! Be sure to check the website shortly to see the amazing pictures that captured two truly amazing concerts!

Family Village Christmas Concerts

This year’s Christmas Village Concerts were jam-packed with family activities, children’s entertainers, Christmas carols and live music for the whole family. It wouldn’t be Christmas without Santa and as always he  made a grand entrance at each of our four village concerts. The City hosts four Village Concerts at  Alexandria, Surry Hills, Rosebery & Rushcutters Bay, make sure you check the website later this year for key dates and programming for the 2012 Sydney Christmas Concert series.

Lighting & Decorations

The city sparkled in all its glory in 2011 with the magical Christmas lights and projections on some of the city’s famous buildings including Sydney Town Hall and St Mary’s Cathedral. The city was also dressed with over 1,500 street banners, decorations and beautiful bud lights to create a truly magical atmosphere.

This year, City of Sydney welcomed its new Christmas Charity Partner, The Australian Children’s Music Foundation. The foundation provides music programs for children. To provide hope, joy, solace, self expression, self esteem and more. It gives these children the chance to look at the world through different eyes. Volunteers attended all our Christmas Concerts and we would like to thank each and every one of you that helped support them.

We  hope you enjoyed all the exciting things happening in the city. We look forward to seeing you all at the 2012 Sydney Christmas Concert series.
